Pel Varazdin Orao or also known as YU102 is the home computer from the family of 8-bit computers which was developed by Croatian company Pel Varazdin, while marketing and sales were carried out by another company – Velebit Informatika. Orao, which means eagle, was widely used in primary schools in Croatia and Vojvodina. This 8-bit computer from 80’s is quite hard to find today, however, thankfully to high skilled computer enthusiasts who managed to create an emulation software which is able to completely emulate Pel Varazdin Orao computer, allowing us to play with its integrated mini-assembler and BASIC, or to play some old games, which are also available for download as roms.
Orao computer were developed and produced by Varazdin exclusively in Croatia, and it had no connection to any other country. It was hard to export the computer out of the country at that time therefore it’s hard to find some examples of “Eagle” nowadays. Orao came packaged with a little black and white monochrome monitor. Orao was not so powerful, but still not the worst computer of that time. This computer could compete with widely known C64. Pel Varazdin Orao served as a starting machine for novice users. Most of them a bit later bought IBM PC, along with Amiga and Atari ST.
Pel Varazdin Orao roms games and emulator software is the only thing you need to setup a virtual Orao computer on your modern PC, Tablet or smartphone with Android or iOS.
